Movie Trailer Redux

Have you ever been completely captivated by a really good movie trailer, only to find out that the movie wasn’t worth the ink used to print your paid tickets?

Cinemagical transports us to an alternate universe where audiences were suckered by these trailers for The Shining and Big.

This is making me seriously reconsider the coolness factor of that King Kong trailer I saw last week.

Usually, I try to go by my “gut” which is very dependable, at least 20-30% of the time I get it right. For me “Big” was and still is a great movie and I was terrified by the original “Shining” and still watch it whenever it comes on. However (and there is always a “however”) I can’t count the times that I got to see a film only to find that the only good part was the trailer. And those are the very films that the guys I work with love the most, go figure. I’ll stick with my 20-30% gut, thank you very much.
