Swear Words

So I hear that the new Iraqi parliament was sworn into office today.

Wow - a brand-new democracy and they’re already swearing. Glad to see they’re paying attention.

I can’t wait to see their first intern scandal. But knowing the region, it will probably involve a pipe bomb instead of a cigar.

    From CNN:
“The 275 lawmakers remain sharply divided over the selection of Ibrahim al-Jaafari as the new prime minister.”

“In a 30-minute meeting around midday, members of the Council of Representatives were sworn in amid tight security, but they did little else.”

Sounds a lot like Congress, especially the “little else” part. :-) Quick…if pro is the opposite of con, then what is the opposite of progress? I know, an oldie, but I still love it.

Remember when Iraq was the “greatest threat to US security”? Back then, before “freedom” and “democracy” the only person allowed to kill anyone was Saddam H. (can’t spell that last name). Now things are much better. Any Iraqi (or from neighboring countries)can arm themselves with a Toyota and go on a rampage. And just when you think “how do you top a great success story like that” our super successful president George W. is using the same language about Iran. Gosh, we could make the whole middle east just like we did in Iraq. What a blessing George W is to the region and the world.

You said it, Fred. I am not one to usually get into a political discussion with anyone; especially friends and family. Things can just get too heated with opposing opinions. Everyone who knows me, though, knows my (ahem) admiration for this administration.

I agree that I do not like the way the situation and talk about Iran is evolving. Soon, we may be hearing the eternal words of Laurel and Hardy, “That’s another fine mess you’ve gotten us into.”

I think what scares me the most is that our military is so stretched thin as it is. (see: “the world’s police”) If the same scenario occurs in Iran, I could honestly see a major push to bring back the draft. Voluntary signup is at or near an all time low right now. It scares me because I have a son who is 3 years away from being eligible for a draft. Granted, if it was a choice of his to join, I would back him 100 percent, but that is what I would want it to be; a choice.

Yes, George W. is unique. The leader of the most powerful country in the world. It must be all of those “NUCULAR” weapons we have. :-)

note: The opinions above are mine and mine alone. PooTV did not coerce me in anyway to either make or change said opinions. No nails to the eyes, no bamboos up the fingernails, no forced listening of Slim Whitman “classics.” I choose not to get into a political debate with anyone, so any disagreements to what I have said WILL be read objectively, but will most likely NOT be responded to. I just hate confrontations. :-)
