Current Earth Status — Green
With the restlessness and uncertainty in today’s world, one can easily fall prey to feelings of helplessness and despair. Will we work out our problems? Will my child have a world to grow up in? Will I die before Jack Bauer?
If this describes you, then take heart that the International Earth-Destruction Advisory Board is there to keep you advised. From their mission statement:
The International Earth Destruction Advisory Board (IEDAB) is an independent scientific institution which monitors the current status of the Earth and the number of times it has been destroyed. In the event of the Earth being destroyed it will be the IEDAB’s job to relay this information to people who need to know and provide advice on how to proceed.
The IEDAB is funded entirely by charitable donations.
Thanks to the efforts of this noble organization, you need not fear being surprised or embarassed by the unexpected destruction of the Earth.
Play One on TV supports the rights of its readers to fair and balanced coverage of this important statistic. Henceforth, our sidebar will feature a graphic that is directly linked to the IEDAB. It will always reflect the Current Earth Status, which at the time of this writing is GREEN.

It is my hope that this will demonstrate this site’s committment to the application of science in the public interest.

A bit bored at lunch, were we?
You kiddin’? This is the best news I got all day! How would you feel if you get home from a hard day’s work and you are under the impression that the Earth has been destroyed? Wouldn’t you like to know that it in fact has not? I don’t know if you have thought about how valuable this kind of info is; IT CONFERMS YOUR EXISTANCE! If the Earth is destroyed then so are you; ie; if the Earth still exists, then so do you! Now that is some handy info right there.
Okay, help me out here. I can be a little naive. Make that a lot naive at times. Is this thing for real? From the site: “How can I find out if the earth has been destroyed?” Heck, not only can you check the website, but they will notify you by email. After reading the “Methods for destroying the Earth,” I tend to believe this is put together by people with a humourous imagination. Just in case, though, I better practice on my mouse clicking/email checking skills. I need to be able to view that information in that nanosecond between accessing the website and getting “ripped apart by Jupiter.” I guess it’s better than getting ripped apart by Uranus. (Insert sound of rimshot here) No pun intended.
I don’t get it. Is this an Al Gore thing? Cause Al Gore is hot!
I’m not taking this seriously until they come up with a Firefox plugin with regular status updates.
Chaz: Okay, now you’re talking the end of the world as we know it.
Jane: I’m quite sure he invented it.
